Hardware Options
POS for NetSuite and SecureCam for NetSuite support many hardware form factors and peripherals. From standard PC (or Mac) registers to Tablets to laptops and wireless peripherals to green low-powered and paperless requirements to IP Cameras, OnSite can recommend, specify and help source point POS and security hardware to suit the most demanding next-gen retail environments.
Following is a summary of the most popular hardware options for OnSite customers:

Traditional All-in-One PC or notebook POS Terminal
When storage space in the storefront for CPUs and peripherals is limited, many retailers opt for All-in-one POS configurations with desktop or notebook CPU. OnSite has worked with All-in-One systems and notebooks from Dell, Lenovo, HP and Apple.

Mini or Tower PC or Mac (BootCamp) POS Terminal
The most cost effective scenario for Point-of-Sale and with many options to choose from, many retailers hide an energy efficient business-class or POS specialty PC in secure cabinet space or under the counter hidden from plain sight of the shoppers. The stand-alone CPU gives the Retailer the freedom to choose the monitors and peripherals of choice without a large footprint at the counter.

Hybrid POS Slate/Tablet Checkout
The lightest weight fixed-lane or mobile solution available, the newest Windows 7 - and coming soon, Windows 8 tablets can be docked and used as fully-functional Point-of-Sale checkout terminals. When un-docked, the tablets can be used for on-floor product lookup or as a mobile POS Tablet for a quick and simple swipe & sign checkout.

IP Failover Solutions
Network Security Appliances (aka firewalls) /routers capable of WAN (ISP) failover are essential in achieving *near perfect availability to the Internet, which is how OnSite’s POS feeds real-time data to the NetSuite Cloud and Payment Gateways for credit card processing authorizations. Devices like the low-cost Sonicwall TZ200 and TZ210 provide hardware as well as 3G / 4G auto failover. When coupled with a proper UPS setup, you can stay running and connected even when the lights are out and if physical lines and infrastructure of your geographic location is compromised. Customers with redundant appliance and bandwidth configurations can see system availability uptime at the 99.999% six-sigma benchmark – that’s less than 5 minutes downtime per year.

Tablets and Smartphones for Retail Suite Access
You can access your NetSuite account through any browser on any tablet or smartphone including Android, Apple (iPad / iPhone) and Blackberry devices. Whether you want to manage products and settings or run reports on Retail data, it’s all available to you even when you’re not at the Point-of-Sale. Since the Retail Suite uses one database, one system of record and that system is NetSuite, you have access on virtually any device connected to the Internet.

POS Tablet with Checkout
Full Point-of-Sale & Service checkout from any Windows 7 Tablet with support for Windows 8 when it goes public in Q4 2012: OnSite POS for NetSuite with Tablet Support will be the first POS for Windows 8 with card-present processing available.
With electronic signature for special items, services, and terms and e-mail receipts, a paperless, all-digital, super sleek POS machine can supplement a permanent POS environment or stand on its own.

POS Peripherals
OnSite supports a wide range of industry standard POS peripherals including current OPOS supported Receipt printers. OnSite prefers Epson and Star Micronics thermal receipt printers which nearly all cash drawers can cable-connect to.

The majority of 2D barcode scanners, wired or wireless, work great with OnSite’s POS for NetSuite. Mini Bluetooth scanners such as the line from Socket Mobile are a popular combo with the POS Tablet solution for checkout or scan of 2D or QR codes for on-the-floor product info. OnSite also recommends Honeywell wired barcode scanners – they are durable and low-cost and there are many brands and form-factors available depending on your needs at the checkout.
For permanent or mobile POS checkout lanes, a popular add-on peripheral for OnSite’s POS is the rich device line of payment/marketing terminals from Equinox Payments (formerly Hypercom).

IP Security Cameras
IP Cameras are the current standard in the marketplace with over a dozen major brands selling interior, night-vision capable and weatherproof models of CCTV cameras. These cameras of all shapes and sizes connect within the local network or securely over the Internet to a storage and management service such as SecureCam for NetSuite. The bandwidth required for this technology is minimal and can easily be captured through an EVDO or 3G Mobile Solution hub. Foscam, Sony, Panasonic, Y-cam, Axis (including one-click setup technology) and Wainsview are a few of the brands OnSite customers select from. There is even hardware conversion support for customers heavily invested in multiple analog cameras.
